Making women GREAT

The National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) in Partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) through the Gender Responsive Economic Action for the Transformation of Women or GREAT Women Project 2 provides Basic Business Finance (BBF) Training to Women Micro Entrepreneurs (WME) enrolled in the project.

The training is made possible through the fund support from Global Affairs Canada (GAD).

BBF Training is given to WMEs to improve their entrepreneurial management skills. BBF teaches women the language of wealth creation and apply the tools of managing finance of their enterprise. Sessions like importance of bookkeeping, symbols of bookkeeping, keeping accounting records, how to calculate profit and loss, managing business cash and accounts, and financial management are included.

For 2019, NATCCO conducted 6th batch for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Basic Business Finance Training is conducted back-to-back with the Boot camp on Access to Lending Sources. The included Boot Camp event will link Women Micro Entrepreneurs (WME) to our partners’ cooperatives to strengthen access to lending resources. Cooperative Fundamentals and Principles are also discussed as part of the boot camp so that WMEs realize why cooperatives would be the best partner for their enterprise.

Partner cooperatives that are financially sound and socially responsive are invited to the boot camp to present their profile, membership, branches and products/services and encourage WMEs to become  members and access co-ops’ credit services for entrprenuers.

NATCCO supports the GREAT Women Project 2 as part of the advocacy for Gender and Development Program and support to Women Economic Empowerment (WEE).  The intervention will continue until 2020.
