Diaspora for Overseas Filipinos

The Diaspora Program recognizes the significant role of overseas Filipinos in community-building and the crucial role of co-ops for their financial wellness and sustainable reintegration. NATCCO capacitates and links the co-ops with the overseas Filipinos through the Ateneo Leadership, Financial Literacy, and Social Entrepreneurship Program (AFLSE Program) both in the Philippines and overseas. NATCCO also partners with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to promote cooperatives as a worthy financial institution for them to prepare for their reintegration.

Diaspora Program
NATCCO’s Diaspora Program envisions Global Filipinos as active co-op members, leaders, and entrepreneurs who contribute holistically to the local economy and nation-building. This vision is what NATCCO aims to achieve as it continues to serve Overseas Filipinos through the partner cooperatives.

NATCCO enables cooperatives to pay special attention to OFWs and their family members, first inviting them to join a cooperative, and enjoy the benefits of co-op membership, and fulfill their responsibilities as well.

The NATCCO Network and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) began partnering in 2024 for NATCCO's Diaspora Program, with the theme "Bagong Bayani Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas.”. The partnership advocates for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in achieving financial wellness through financial education, business development services, and access to financial services, ensuring sustainable  reintegration through NATCCO’s partner cooperatives.

NATCCO and DMW work together for OFWs and OFW families to actively introduce cooperatives to the soon-to-be deployed OFWs and their families.

Online sessions are streamed on the Diaspora Facebook Page. The activity aims to make cooperative orientation reach to as many OFWs as possible as it is being conducted every Saturday evening.

NATCCO has also partnered with the Ateneo-LSE Consortium where NATCCO provides modules on Financial Literacy, Leadership, and Social Entrepreneurship Sessions in countries where there are many OFWs. These sessions are conducted online.

NATCCO’s Diaspora Program reinforces the role of cooperatives not only as financial institutions, but as mission-driven organizations committed to sustainable community impact.
