Valenzuela Development Cooperative (VALDECO) is one of the oldest co-operatives in Valenzuela, having been established by vendors of the public market in the town of Malinta.

In 1997, the Dept. of Trade & Industry recognized Valenzuela as the "emerging cooperative center in Metro Manila.  Today, the City of Valenzuela continues to be a champion of cooperatives in the National Capital Region, and in the Philippines.

In fact, Valenzuela was considered "Number 1" City / Municipality in terms of co-op support in the years 2014 and 2015, and even won third in 2016.

Having been established by market vendors who needed loans to raise capital, Valdeco today continues to teach members about Financial Literacy.  Many members and employees of the co-op are encouraged to have an "Emergency Fund Deposit" savings fund that can be withdrawn during emergency.  Members who have this emergency fund feel more secure in their finances during crisis.

Valdeco also offers emergency loans and moratorium for members' loan obligation when needed.

Valdeco also runs the Valdeco Greenleaf Market, which belongs to the co-op members.

At the height of the Covid 19 Pandemic, Valdeco donated P400,000 to the Local Government.

Retailing is still in the heart of the co-op members, as the co-op continues to "bring goods to the 'palengke' at prices that are 'preyong palengke' (fair prices) in every sector of Valenzuela.

Congratulations to the members, staff, management and leadership of Valdeco on its 43rd Anniversary.
