MALOLOS CITY - Bulacan continues to be the "Cooperative Capital of the Philippines" as the province has the largest number of active co-operatives, managing combined Total Assets amounting to Php 17.8 Billion.

This is more than double the 6-Billion figure for the year 2008.

Cooperative Development Specialist Mariz Carmela Paltao of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) announced this at the opening of the Cooperative and Enterprise Trade Fair at the Waltermart Malolos, during the celebration of Cooperative Month.

There are twenty micro-, small and medium enterprises participated in the fair.

An estimated 10,821 jobs have been created by various projects and programs that involve credit and multi-purpose cooperatives in Bulacan.

According to Mr. Jerry Caguingin, division head of the Provincial Cooperative and Development Development Office, this is the first time that the fair is being conducted on a face-to-face basis since the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The fair endeavors to promote the enterprises of co-op members, including the apparel sold by Ligas Kooperatiba ng Bayan sa Pagpapaunlad based in Malolos.
