MANILA – Co-ops have the solution to the agriculture problem of the Philippines, and will come together to address the bad situation. The Philippine Cooperative Center (PCC) together with NATCCO and other national co-op federations and government agencies will be conducting the NATIONAL AGRICULTURE COOPERATIVES: KNOWLEDGE, INNOVATION, AND TRADE EXPO (AgriCoop-KITE) this coming October 22-25, 2019, to be held at Century Park Hotel, Ocampo St., Malate.

MANILA – Co-ops have the solution to the agriculture problem of the Philippines, and will come together to address the bad situation.  

The Philippine Cooperative Center (PCC) together with NATCCO and other national co-op federations and government agencies will be conducting the NATIONAL AGRICULTURE COOPERATIVES: KNOWLEDGE, INNOVATION, AND TRADE EXPO (AgriCoop-KITE) this coming October 22-25, 2019, to be held at Century Park Hotel, Ocampo St., Malate.

AgriCoop-KITE will highlight the importance of enhancing competitiveness of agricultural cooperatives’ products in the market and showcasing the role of agriculture cooperatives towards food security and job creation.  

Objectives of the AgriCoop-KITE are:

• To showcase and promote the products and services of agriculture cooperatives and federations engaged in agriculture development;

• To share and exchange knowledge on best practices and innovations of cooperatives and federations in product development, agri-financing and investment, livestock or crop insurance, value chain development and youth and gender-responsive programs in agriculture;

• To identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities and propose policies for the development of agriculture cooperatives in the country;

• To promote partnership and collaboration among cooperatives in different cooperative clusters; by and among cooperatives and agro-dealers, and among cooperatives, government agencies and other stakeholders;

• To contribute in the Celebration of the Cooperative Month by holding a solidarity activity/action to promote food security and job generation.

Other organizers are the Asian Farmers Association (AFA), Cooperative Insurance System of the Philippines (1CISP), NATCCO, CLIMBS, Federation of Sustainable Development Cooperatives (FPSDC) , AgriCOOPh, ACDI MPC, and  Soro-soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) in partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) through the support of government agencies  such as DTI, DA, DAR, NDA, PhilMech, PhilRice, and Civil Society Organizations like AsiaDHRRA, WeEFFECT, TRIAS, AGRITERRA, PEF, FSSI, and PBSP.

The event is organized in celebration of the Cooperative Month on October 2019. 

All co-ops – whether involved in agriculture or not – are invited.  

The invitation states: “To achieve our goal of engaging cooperatives at all levels, from the national, to the regional, and down to the primary level in this agenda, we would greatly appreciate if you could confirm your participation . . .”
