Our future, today!

People in poverty need to create opportunities for themselves to improve their economic well-being. The National Confederation of Cooperatives (formerly known as National Association of Training Centers for Cooperatives or NATCCO) was formed by cooperators who believe that the task of coop development lays primarily in the hands of the private sector.

Through risk-based evaluations, ACCESS Audit, consultations, orientations, and strategic engagements with cooperative leaders, we worked hand in hand with our member-cooperatives to strengthen governance, enhance risk management, and promote long-term financial stability. Each activity reinforced a simple but vital principle: resilient cooperatives create stronger communities.

From Surigao del Norte to Quezon, from virtual discussions to on-site assessments, we witnessed the dedication of cooperatives striving to continuously improve and safeguard the trust of their members. These engagements are at the heart of what the Stabilization Fund System represents, a proactive framework that helps cooperatives anticipate risks, strengthen their institutions, and build confidence in their future.

Beyond field activities, SFSG continued to contribute to shaping the future of the cooperative movement through participating in discussions on the proposed Apex Cooperative Organization, learning sessions on Risk-Weighted Capital Adequacy Ratio, and knowledge-sharing engagements with partners. As we reflect on the month, we take pride in every cooperative reached, every partnership strengthened, and every step taken toward a more protected and sustainable sector. At NATCCO, we are building a cooperative movement that is prepared, protected, and positioned to thrive for generations to come.

𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤: 𝙆𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤-𝙤𝙥𝙨 𝙍𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜

Following the recent earthquake in Mindanao, our hearts go out to everyone affected. In times like these, the co-operative spirit truly shines through.

Our primary thoughts and deepest prayers are for the safety and well-being of every cooperator, employee, member, and their families. We pray for protection, comfort, and peace of mind across all affected communities.

While we lift our prayers for safety, let us also translate our care into immediate, practical action. As part of your co-op’s 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣 (𝘽𝘾𝙋), we urge all management teams to conduct vital safety checks right now, while simultaneously ensuring our services remain available to members who need them most:

𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤 𝙤𝙣 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤-𝙤𝙥 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚

𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 & 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 - Check for structural damage, cracks, or compromised walls before allowing staff and members back inside.
𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 - Scan the immediate area outside for fallen power lines, debris, or unstable structures that could pose a danger.
𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙮 𝙃𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙃𝙖𝙯𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 - Be on the lookout for internal hazards like gas leaks, exposed electrical wiring, or heavy furniture that may have shifted.
𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙑𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙨 - Proactively check on your elderly members, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and heavily affected families to ensure they are safe and supported.
𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤-𝙤𝙥 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 - While we respond to the immediate aftermath, our members will look to us for financial relief and stability.
𝙎𝙚𝙩 𝙐𝙥 𝙏𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙨 - If the building is unsafe but your area is secure, set up an outdoor kiosk or temporary tent to handle urgent transactions, emergency cash withdrawals, and calamity loan processing.
𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 & 𝙈𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 - Encourage members to use their Kaya Payment platform to pay and transfer funds, reducing the need for them to travel to physical branches.

To our cooperators in Mindanao: Please stay safe, look out for one another, and know that the entire co-op community stands with you.

CO-OP OFFICE SAFETY TIPS

A 10-minute nap produces immediate improvements in all outcome measures (including sleep latency, subjective sleepiness, fatigue, vigor, and cognitive performance), with some of these benefits maintained for as long as 155 minutes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddisalvo/2012/07/24/why-you-should-take-a-10-minute-nap-every-day/#293197a11b0f

ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY TIP

After you eat fruit, plant a tree! On sidewalks, around your house, in an open field, anywhere there is space and light, all you have to do is: 1. bend down 2. push your finger into the soil about to about 2cm (1 inch) depth – or use a pen – and pop that seed in. 3. Then stand on the hole to close it over and tuck it in. 4. And tell your friends and family to do the same! SOURCE: https://wwf.panda.org/get_involved/plant_seed.cfm/
